Temperatures soar in the summer months, regularly around 100 F, with a record high of 117 F in the books. Winters are typically short and mild, with highs near 60 F and lows near 40 F, although the lowest winter temperature on record is 8 F.
Annual rainfall totals right at 4.5 inches, making Las Vegas’ weather among the nations’ most arid. The city sees precipitation, on average, less than 30 days out of the year, most of which occurs during the winter months. While snow is rarely seen in the city itself, the surrounding mountains are typically capped in white during the winter. In fact, nearby Mount Charleston (about 35 miles northwest of Vegas) is a popular local ski resort destination.
