Linkin Park to Play the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas

Hitting Las Vegas for a stop on their “A Thousand Suns” world tour, nu metal slash rap metal rockers, Linkin Park, will bring their alternative style of music to the Hard Rock Hotel’s premier concert venue, The Joint at the end of August.

Since their debut album in 1996, Linkin Park has sold more than 50 million albums and been awarded two Grammy Awards. Their most recent album, A Thousand Suns, has been called “a psychedelic journey that explores the conflict between technology and humanity.” The current promotional tour will likely lean heavily on LP’s latest work and is certain to be the visual and aural experience we’ve come to expect from Linkin Park concerts.

The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino welcomes blues rocker Kenny Wayne Shepherd to the Beach Club on Saturday, July 30 beginning at 9:00pm. Performing poolside on the Soundwaves stage, Shepherd is celebrating the upcoming release of his latest album, “How I Go”. The 34-year old Shreveport, Louisiana native is currently on tour to promote his new CD, set for release on August 2 on the Roadrunner label.

Shepherd, who cites the likes of Stevie Ray Vaughan and Muddy Waters as influences on his career, began playing the guitar at the age of seven and first appeared on stage at the age of thirteen. Kenny Wayne has seven Top 10 singles and currently holds the record for the longest-running album on the Billboard Blues charts. Shepherd is a five time Grammy Award nominee and is the recipient of two Billboard Music Awards. He is best known for his hit song, “Blue on Black.”

The Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band brings their unique style of blues to the poolside Soundwaves Stage at the Las Vegas Hard Rock Hotel. This outdoor venue is one of Vegas’ best concert locations. Soundgarden, on tour for the first time in more than 13 years, are set to play one of Vegas’ most amazing concert venues. The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel is a showcase for some of the biggest names in rock and roll, as evidenced by the upcoming appearance of Seattle alt rockers Soundgarden. Humperdinck already has four Grammy nods, a Golden Globe for “Entertainer of the Year”, 24 platinum and 63 gold records, as well as a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame to his credit. He’s been a force on the international music scene for more than 40 years and shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. Running until the 17th, the Friday thru Sunday event will feature top BMX stunt riders from all over the country, competing in a number of fast, high-flying events. Absinthe at Caesars Palace

Absinthe is one of the latest Las Vegas variety shows to hit The Strip. Set beneath the canopy of the Spiegeltent in the Caesars Palace “front yard”, Absinthe is part circus, part vaudeville, part acrobatics and one hundred percent NOT safe for kids. Absinthe is an 18-years and older show, in large part to the fact that the production contains a large helping of burlesque as well.

The venue itself, the Spiegletent, is cozy, to say the least. With general admission open seating surrounding a very small stage in the center, the action of Absinthe takes place almost in the audience’s laps. And, the entire Spiegelworld plaza area in front of Caesars Palace gets in on the act, with early 20th century decor, a secret speakeasy, naughty drinking games, quirky food and drinks, and more, creating an adult carnival atmosphere designed to put audience members in the right “frame of mind” for the show.

Absinthe features a crazy cast of characters, including The Gazillionaire and his trusty sidekick Penny who lead showgoers on this exciting, decadent and extremely entertaining trip on The Strip. Other players include The Green Fairy (an obvious absinthe reference), The Weather Girl and the Vestal Virgins, among others.

Tickets for Absinthe range from $69 to $99 and can be purchased online through the Caesars Palace website. As the venue is open-seating and on the small side, many previous showgoers recommend the VIP upgrade for $99, suggesting that the additional $30 is well worth the money for the ability to have first option for seats.

In a surreal aquatic-themed production, “O” Cirque du Soleil at Bellagio on the Vegas Strip is an homage to the theater, flavored with romance and inspired by the purity of water. An international cast of world class acrobats, aerialists, synchronized swimmers and a cast of other performers make water their stage, acting in and around their 1.5 million gallon “wet” set as they weave this spectacular masterpiece as only Cirque performers can. “O” most definitely raises the bar for all other Las Vegas show.

In typical Cirque du Soleil fashion, the cast of “O” features a number of one-of-a-kind characters. The graceful Aurora, playful Zebras, pyromaniac L’Allume, weird Le Travesti and theater guardian Le Vieux are but a few of the many performers in this Vegas Strip production. Many of the actors in this show maintain multiple costumes so that they always appear fresh and dry, despite working on a water filled stage.

"O" Cirque du Soleil

The eleven acts of “O” Cirque du Soleil are as surreal, bizarre and varied as the cast. From the Synchronized Swimming act, featuring 17 world-class aquatic athletes, to the Barge act, with acrobats atop a floating raft, to the High Dive performance, launching from 60 feet above the water, “O” plays in, on and above the amazing on-stage pool. The set itself is a technological marvel. State-of-the-art equipment and systems are required to bring set designer Michel Crête’s vision to life twice every night.

If you’re a Las Vegas show aficionado, then “O” Cirque du Soleil at Bellagio will certainly meet or exceed your expectations. If you’ve never been to a Vegas production show, beware. Once you’ve seen the wet and weird spectacle that is “O”, other Sin City productions may have a hard time living up to the magnificence of this Cirque masterpiece.

The show has been running at the Bellagio since 1998 and recently reached the billion dollar mark in gross sales. Tickets for “O” typically run from $104 to $155 ($93.50 for limited view seats). However, holiday season ticket prices for the show run about $25 higher.

The Price Is Right LIVE! is a production show version of the famous television game show, currently playing at Bally’s Las Vegas. Just as on the TV game show, randomly selected audience members “Come On Down” in the live stage adaptation to play many of the familiar Price Is Right games: Cliff Hangers, Punch-A-Bunch, Hole In One, Plinko, and even the big Showcase Showdown at the finale. And, just as the game is played on television, The Price Is Right LIVE! offers prizes such as vacations, appliances and new cars.

Currently, the stage show version of The Price Is Right at Bally’s is hosted by Todd Newton of E! Entertainment Television. Rumor has it that Supermarket Sweep host David Ruprecht is slated to take over for Newton in the near future. In addition to the Bally’s stage show, The Price Is Right LIVE! has played at a number of other venues around the country, including Atlantic City and Foxwoods Resort and Casino in Connecticut. Other hosts have included Joey Fatone, George Hamilton, Marc Summers and a number of others.

Ticket prices are $56.25 per person and registration for the show begins 2 to 2½ hours before the scheduled showtime. Participants are required to be 21-years of age or older; however, younger guests are welcome to attend The Price Is Right LIVE! as audience spectators.

For nearly 30 years running, Donn Arden’s spectacular burlesque show, Jubilee!, has been a Las Vegas audience favorite. The show, ongoing at Bally’s, features almost 100 performers in total, some 50 of whom are the gorgeous and renowned topless dancers of Jubilee!. These iconic dancers have been consistently voted the best showgirls in Vegas for more than a decade. The show itself is currently the longest running production in the Las Vegas.

From the opening curtain until the end of the show, the cast of Jubilee! will perform several different acts on lavish stage sets in hundreds of different costumes designed by Pete Menefee and Bob Mackie. The highlight of this long-running production show is the famous Red Feather Fan number, featuring a medley of Cole Porter hits. With seven total acts, Jubilee! is a true spectacle in every sense of the word. The show is topless, with an 18 or over age limit in effect. However. for the past couple of years, the early performance every Saturday is performed non-topless, making it suitable for audiences 13-years of age and older.
